Hey everyone!!
A while back on Good Morning America they did a segment on beauty apps, so I decided to test these out myself and find out if they are actually helpful, or should we just ask an expert in the store for help? Keep reading to find out!
Beauty Apps — Are they Helpful?
With smartphones there is pretty much an app for anything now, but are they actually helpful or do they just take up space on your phone? Before you download these read my results!
L’OReal Makeup Genius:
“The first virtual makeup test in augmented reality!”

Free.
Available on both Apple and Android.
This app doesn’t work at all on Android. Basically it is supposed to scan your face, and you can pick and choose different makeup you want to try on. Mine scans the face, but no makeup ever shows up. I’ve tried everything, and I get nothing. I even read a ton of reviews with people having the same problem. I had high hopes for this app because you can virtually test makeup before you buy it. L’Oreal, please fix this for Androids. If you have an IPhone give this a try and see if it works for you!
Hair Color Studio by ModiFace:
“The ultimate hair color simulation application for everyone.”

Free.
Available on both Apple and Android.
This app is a really fun way to see what hair colors look best on your before a more permanent decision. You can use a picture from a model, your gallery, or take one on the spot. Once you have a picture, you outline your hair with your finger, and let the fun begin.
Excuse my weird face and earbud for making an appearance.

This app is really a lot of fun to mess around with. I’m blonde normally so giving myself red hair without going to the salon was really cool. You can play with the different tones as well. I will say you are pretty limited with the color selection, unless you want to pay $1.99 for an upgrade to get way more colors. Do I think this app is really going to help you make those hair color decisions, yea I do. I think it definitely gives you an idea of how certain colors may look on you, but it’s not the end all be all. I wouldn’t run to the salon and change my hair color, just based on how I look on an app if that makes sense!
SkinBetter:
“A Revolutionary Skin Analysis With Personalized Treatments For Your Skin”

Free.
Available on both Apple and Android.
This app is really cool because it will analyze your skin and tell you what treatments to use for it. You take a picture of the side of your face, answer a slew of questions, and it really does come up with the treatments you should buy. What I don’t like about this app is before you can even see your results you have to create an account (ain’t nobody got time for that). Plus after you create the account you have to answer a ton of questions about your skin.
After all the questions it does suggest treatment for you which you can buy directly from the app, great feature.

What Do I really think about Beauty Apps?
I just tested a few beauty apps, I know there are more out there. But my overall opinion is they are fun to play around with, but if you really need help just ask a beauty expert in a store, or online. Do I think you should download all of these apps to make your beauty life easier? No, none of them make life easier, they are just a fun edition. If you are going to try out any of these, please get the hair one… I can spend hours on that app! :)
I hope this was a fun post for you, it was definitely fun to make!
Do you have any beauty apps? What are your favorites?
I’ve never tried a beauty app! These sound like fun though. I should try the skin one since I’ve been breaking out more lately and don’t know why.
Yea try it out, even if you don’t buy those specific products, you can look for the ingredients those products have, and find similar ones! :)
What a cool post!!! That hair color app looks like so much fun!
Thank you!! Yea it was seriously so fun!! Try it out girl!! :)
