The Dress
Lover.ly sent me pictures of wedding dresses and I could pick my favorite… As soon as I saw this I knew it was “the one” haha. But if you know me, you know my personal style is a little out of the box just like this dress. I love the beautiful dip dyed/ombre effect of the bottom of the dress. Look through thousands of their dresses here.
The Makeup
Lover.ly wanted me to come up with a makeup look for the dress I chose. I did this by using Polyvore, I could have done the makeup on myself, but I wanted to show products I don’t own. The makeup is exactly what I would go for if I was wearing this wedding dress.
All of the makeup I chose is neutral, but still has some subtle color that goes back to the bottom of the dress. It is very romantic and soft with some serious fun. If I was wearing this dress I would want eye makeup that is highlighted on the inner corner to middle of lid, then darkened in the crease creating a nice smokey effect. Lining the eyes with liquid liner, don’t forget to coat those lashes. Slight contour and highlight on the cheeks will definitely compliment a purple mauve blush, and a pop of orchid on the lips.
Clockwise
1 // Tarte Amazonian Clay Blush in True Love
2 // NARS 3.1 Philip Lim Nail Polish
3 // BareMineral’s BARESKIN Brightening Foundation
4 // Armani Eyes to Kill Mascara, waterproof (you know why)
5 // Chanel Automatic Liquid Eyeliner in black
6 // Anastasia Beverly Hills Perfect Brow Pencil
7 // Anastasia Beverly Hills Contour Kit
8 // YSL Rouge Volupte Perle Lipstick in Brazen Plum
9 // Urban Decay Naked 3 Palette
So this is pretty much everything I would wear on my face if I was wearing that wedding dress. This was a fun post to do, let me know if you like posts like this! And remember to check out Lover.ly for all your wedding needs! :)
*Tip: On your wedding day try not to look like a completely different person, if you don’t wear a lot of makeup day to day, still keep it light on the big day. If you don’t you may regret it and hate your pictures later.
If you are married did you go heavy or light with your makeup on your wedding day?
I went light on my wedding day. I wanted to be able to recognize myself in my pictures and I didn’t want my makeup to seemed dated 20 years from now. So while I am all for contouring so your face actually photographs well, I would stick with classic makeup and a fresh face overall so you don’t regret your look 20 years later.
Yea i see what you are saying, and I would definitely only use a light hand contouring, nothing crazy! As far as contouring goes I think it’s going to be around for years and years and years!
I love this look! I haven’t even met you in person but I know that dress is so you! I tend to like more of a natural look with makeup, so I like this a lot. It’s nice how you added in some details to match the bottom of the dress, though. Love it! I will need to check out Lover.ly when I get married.
Haha thank you, that’s so cool that even though you haven’t met me you can still tell my style. Love it!! Yea I definitely would incorporate the bottom of the dress into the lipstick and even subtly with the blush and eyes. You should definitely check them out, even if you are just a bridesmaid for a wedding, they have some really great tips! :)
That dress is GORGEOUS and I can totally see you rocking it! I went a little heavier on my wedding day but that was because my colors were darker (red, silver, black) and had an evening type theme! Plus, I needed it for my pictures! :)
Haha thank you!! :) It sounds like you had a beautiful wedding! Those are UGA colors you know! ;)
that looks amazing
Thank you!
Love this Anna!! I’m in complete agreement that the best wedding makeup is composed of pretty neutrals. My makeup was definitely heavier than usual for my wedding, mostly because photography requires it. But it still looked natural and I looked like myself :) Also, I thought it was genius that my makeup artist didn’t use mascara at all; instead she used really beautiful, lush false lashes… that was the best part :)
Thank you Daisy! :) I think I would do heavier makeup than usual too because you are right it comes out better in pictures! That is a great idea, I’m not really a lash wearer at all, but I thought about including them into this post but wanted to stay true to myself too. Those are definitely a good option though, especially for someone that may not have long full lashes!
