Happy Monday Friends!!
Hope you had a great weekend! Are you looking forward to Valentine’s Day this weekend? Have any fun plans? Make sure you check out my Valentine’s Day Makeup Tutorial. This weekend I wanted to do a hair treatment on my hair because I’ve been washing my hair a lot lately (I’ll get into that later), and it needed a little treatment but I didn’t want to buy one, so I made my own. It’s so easy so keep reading…
DIY Hair Treatment
This is the easiest hair treatment to do, and it actually works!!
What You Need:
- Apple Cider Vinegar
- Honey (Organic is even better)
- 1/4 cup
- Tablespoon
What To Do:
1 // Fill a 1/4 cup full of honey (because my hair is shorter I filled mine about half way)
2 // Pour the honey into a bowl.
3 // Fill a tablespoon 10 times with Apple Cider Vinegar, pour each in into the bowl with the honey.
4 // Mix the honey and ACV together until fully mixed. This will be a pretty runny treatment when it is completely mixed.
That is all you do, now you are ready to use it…
- Like I said it is really runny so you may either need to pop in the shower and pour it over your hair, or get someone to help you pour it on your hair over the sink.
- Once you pour it on your hair, kind of massage it through your hair making sure every piece is covered.
- When it is good and covered leave this on your hair for 15 minutes. I usually put mine up in a bun to get it off my shoulders.
- After 15 minutes get in the shower and wash your hair really well. And you are done.
Why Honey is good for your hair:
Honey is great for dry, damaged hair because it is a natural humectant which means it attracts moisture. It also helps with hair growth, due to all of the great antioxidants and nutrients.
Why Apple Cider Vinegar is good for your hair:
ACV is great for so many things, not just your hair, but here is why you may want to start using it on your pretty locks.
- Relieves dry or itchy scalps
- Reduces frizz
- Clarifies by removing product buildup
- Treats hair loss by stimulating growth
- It’s a natural conditioner making hair soft, smooth, and shiny
- It is also gives me a lot of body
Aren’t you interested in trying this now? It has so many benefits and it’s so easy to make, who wouldn’t want to try this? I will say, if you don’t like the smell of ACV, then you probably won’t like this to be in your hair.
I hope you enjoy this DIY Hair Treatment. Let me know if you decide to make it, and if you do let me know what you think! Check out this DIY Face Mask I made a while back!
What’s your biggest hair concern right now?
It is true- I did this as well many years ago. But I have a bit of a problem with the scent of vinegar- somehow I seem to be very sensitive to it and do not like it much and it lingers all day in my hair! ;-)
Yea the smell of vinegar isn’t for the faint. It is a very strong scent, but for whatever reason it just doesn’t bother me all that much. It does linger in the hair for a couple days but luckily, it isn’t as strong as when first applied. :)
Oooooh, I am definitely going to try this! Thank you!!
Absolutely! Let me know what you think after you try it! :)
Can’t wait to try this!
Yay! Let me know what you think after you do! :)
I finally got myself together and tried this. It’s AWESOME! My scalp is constantly dry and flaky, and my hair is curly and frizzy. This treatment made my scalp feel great, cleared up the flakes, (which dandruff shampoo hasn’t been able to do for 5 years), and took away most of my frizz. Love it so much!
Would you mind if I share this on my blog, with a link to your site?
Aww yay I’m so glad you tried it and loved it! You may absolutely share this on your blog, please do! :)
I’m curious — how does it smell when you’re using the mask? ACV has a pretty strong, and rather unpleasant, scent to it. Did the honey help mask that so you weren’t gagging while letting the mask sit in your hair?
I once tried to use ACV mixed with a clay mask, as it’s supposed to be really good for oil skin. But I just couldn’t stand the smell on my face long enough to let it dry. :-P Yeah, I can be a wimp sometimes :-P
It’s not the best smell in the world as you know~ But honestly it didn’t bother me much because I’ve drank ACV when I have sinus issues so I’m pretty used to that smell. Plus when you put your hair up in a bun or something it kind of gets it out of the way and you don’t really smell it. I will say the bowl after I used it smelled pretty bad. The mix of honey and ACV didn’t smell that good afterwards…but it was worth it to me! :) Let me know if you try it!!
I’ve never tried either and I’m really about to because lately I’ve had a serious problem with dry itchy scalp. Love his!
Definitely give this a try if your scalp is dry or itchy. It really does help! :)
My hair is thin and I live in Montana, where humidity is rather low, so it can get really dry sometimes. I knew honey was awesome for your skin and things like minor wounds, but dousing my hair in it sounds delicious. Going to try it in the shower right now!
Aww great, let me know what you thought about it! :)
ACV is the bees knees! So excited that you posted this! I’ve been doing something similar to this, but not with quite as much honey as you suggest. (Coconut oil, honey and ACV) Excited to try it out!
You are absolutely right ACV is totally the bees knees. It can do so many things it’s amazing! Definitely this one a try and see what you think! :)
I am totally doing this!! I’m constantly battling the frizz. Thanks!
Yay!! Good luck! Let me know what you think later! :)
I keep hearing about how good ACV is for your hair! Think I need to try this because I do *everything* wrong when it comes to hair care, including washing mine every day. Thanks for the tip!
Haha well definitely give this a try. It’s so easy to do, so why not?! :)
Boy could I use this right now! Thanks!
Absolutely!! Definitely try it out! :)
i have tried honey and different oil treatments before but never cider vinegar, wow!
Yea it’s pretty amazing! Definitely give it a try! :)
Apple cider vinegar is amazing! I’ve never tried it for my hair though. My hair can get pretty dry, especially right now when I am needing a haircut soon. I need to try this treatment!
I know ACV is good for so many things, it’s unreal. Yea definitely try this treatment and see what you think. :)
