Hey friends!!
Hope you had a great weekend/Halloween! Mine was great! The weather took a nose dive though and it is so cold now, and this girl is not quiet ready for that kind of cold. Anyways today I am going to show you How To: Mend Broken Lipstick, a really easy way to fix your broken lipstick, you may not have any broken lipsticks lying around, but you never know when that dreaded day may come. So I’m here to help you out! Keep reading to find out how!
How To: Mend Broken Lipstick
What You Need:
- Broken Lipstick
- Hair Dryer
- Freezer
Instructions:
Step 1: Use your hair dryer to heat up the said lipstick until it looks like it is starting to melt slightly (you don’t want it to get too hot where you lipstick is left in a puddle, that is beyond help).
Step 2: Take your fingers and mold and press the lipstick back into it’s original state. It will look a little warped from when you first bought it at the store, but remember it did break.
Step 3: Once you have smoothed out the cracks and tried to put it back together the best way you can pop it in your freezer. You can leave it for a few hours or overnight. I prefer overnight just to make sure it has sat for enough time.
Step 4: Take your lipstick out the next day and let it thaw out, and now it’s just like new…well close. The main thing is the color is exactly the same, and it still works, it just may look a little funny!
So see how easy peasy that is? I didn’t get a picture of me using the hair dryer, because I don’t have an extra arm haha. But this is literally the easiest way to fix a broken lipstick. Lipsticks can break for many reasons but the most common is leaving it in the car and it gets too hot and breaks off when you apply it, especially if you apply it as soon as you get in the car.
Maybe this will come in handy one of these days! :)
Lipstick in this post is MAC’s Ruby Woo, their most popular classic red.

This is so good to know! I probably would have just thrown it away because I didn’t know you could fix broken lipstick.
Never throw away a broken lipstick, at least try to fix it first! :)
I’ve tried to do this before! Awesome tip ♥
Thank you so much!! :)
I’m guilty of leaving a lipstick in the car and it melting, this is a great idea and now I won’t think I should just throw it away next time!
Haha I know, that’s what happened to the lipstick in this post. I was so sad too because I had just bought it the day before. I hope this helps you! :)
How did you know I always break my lipsticks?! haha Great tip!
Haha so funny! I had just broken mine when I decided to do this because I knew someone had to experience broken lipsticks too! Glad I could help! :)
Broken lipstick is the story of my life! Thanks for this helpful How To!
Absolutely, so glad I could help! :)
…i mean… so simple and yet PERFECTLY needed – and doable! i totally have a lipstick primer that is begging for this, and just today i was frustrated that it is in the tube all warbly. i’m pinning this, and then DOING it. thank you! :)
Haha I know, it is literally the easiest thing but so handy!! I hope it works for your primer and you can have a nice tube again! :)
Thanks for pinning!!
Good for you that you were able to fix this! It never happened to me- but I should not have said it cause now it probably will- lol!
Haha well hopefully you won’t, but if you do you now know how to fix it! :)
i learned this from my grandmother! but i admit i would probably depot it unless it was in gorgeous packaging (like lime crime)
Great idea too! I’ve found for myself though that I won’t use it as much if it’s in a pot vs. a tube…I’m weird! :)
What a great idea!
Thank you!! :)
Smart tip! And I bet this might work on lip balm too, at least it’s worth trying. Pinning!
Yea I bet it would work with lip balm! Thanks for pinning! :)
I’ve broken so many lipsticks – what a great fix! Glad you left a comment on my SITS feature today!
Aww good I’m glad it can help, if you break another one! :)
So smart! I love this tip!
Thank you!! It can definitely come in handy!! :)
Wow, this is great. I never would have thought of this and I have ruined many a lipstick. Thanks! :)
Aww great! I hope this helps, if you break anymore! It’s such a sad feeling isn’t it? Especially for the MAC lipstick in this post, I had just bought it the day before… heart breaker! :)
Seriously?! I never knew you could repair something like this! I’ve thrown so many away (or at least the top part) because I thought it was beyond help!
Haha good, I’m glad you could learn something! I know you don’t wear a lot of lipstick but you can pass this on to others as well! :) It’s seriously the easiest trick!
This is so good to know! I probably would have just thrown it away because I didn’t know you could fix broken lipstick.
I know right? This happened when I accidentally left it in the car and then tried to apply it! Oops! At least it was easily fixed and I haven’t had a problem since! :)
