So, you know every Fall dark lips are always a trend, so today I’m sharing with you some tips and tricks on How To Rock Dark Lips for Fall! Keep reading to find out how!

How To Rock Dark Lips for Fall

1 // Use a lip liner. When wearing dark lips, you definitely don’t them to bleed or feather and end up all over your face right? So applying a similar colored lip liner before hand will really keep your lipstick in line. Color in the full lips with the lip liner to add longevity to the lipstick. If you don’t have a similar color lip liner, you can get a translucent or universal lip liner and it will do the trick. Urban Decay. 

2 // Use a lip brush. Now I will admit, this isn’t something I do all the time, cause this girl doesn’t have time to whip out her lip brush every time I apply lipstick. But by using a lip brush you have more control over where the lipstick goes. You can really edge out the cupids bow as well as the corner of the mouth. Sigma Beauty. 

3 // Keep the eyes simple. When you wear dark lips you want them to be the star of the show right? You don’t want super dark eyes, and dark lips all in the same day or else it can be too dramatic and may even make you look older. I love using matte neutral shadows when I’m rocking a dark lip. This Sonia Kashuk palette is one of my favorites!

4 // Skip the gloss. This is just a personal preference, but I find that dark lips are much more flattering as matte. The color is more rich and bold, plus matte lipstick is really in right now!

5 // Always do the teeth check. Even though you think you may apply your lipstick perfect and it won’t get on your teeth, you are wrong. It can slip and slide and somehow end up on those pearly whites. To avoid this put your pointer finger inside your mouth, put your lips around it, and pull your finger out, the lipstick that would have ended up on your teeth will be on your finger. This may sound weird/gross but it really works.

6 // Contour. Doing a strongish contour is so stunning with a dark bold lip. Contouring really highlights your key features plus it will make your lips really pop. Also try using a neutral blush and blending that into the contour, this makes for a beautifully put together look. More on contouring in another post. Anastasia Contour Kit!

7 // Find your perfect shade. Just because the trending color of the moment is deep, doesn’t mean that is going to be the color for you. I love all dark colors, but plums and purples are my favorite. Anyone with fair skin should pick something with pink tones, medium skin tones should grab lipsticks with blue undertones, and dark skin tones look great with brown undertones. If you can test it out before you buy it.

There are other things you can do to Rock Dark Lips for Fall, but I hope this list was able to help you! If you are nervous to wear dark lips, buy one and just wear it around the house at first, look in the mirror often to get used to it. Wear it out for a quick errand next and next the world is yours… go out there and rock that lipstick girl! :)
