Hey everyone!
I hope you had a great weekend filled with lots of fun times! So I will admit something to you…when I see something kind of odd and bizarre in the beauty world, I just want to try it. So this is a prime example of that. Keep reading to see my full review on the Illumask Anti-Aging Mask.
So I saw this interesting mask in Ulta one day, and I passed up the opportunity to buy it then, but I ended up reading a few reviews on it later. So I decided why the heck not. There are two different systems, one for anti-aging and the other for acne. Since I don’t have too much acne now, I decided to go ahead and get the anti-aging one. I’m 27 with not very many wrinkles at all, but it’s good to use preventative care.
What they say: ” IlluMask is clinically proven to reduce the appearance of fine lines and wrinkles. Visibly brighter, clearer, smoother, more radiant skin in just 15 minutes every day, for just $1 per day.” Click here to buy your own.
The Basics.
The mask is a hard white plastic shell type of thing with eye protection built in, and a handheld remote start. The lights are a mix between red and orange. This retails for $29.99 and can be bought at Ulta and most drugstores. You use this mask for 15 minutes every day for 30 days. When 30 days is over, it no longer works.
My Thoughts.
This is what it looks like on, so if you have kids do it after they go to bed or it may scare them! :)
At first I really really liked this mask. 15 minutes a day of total silence and relaxation. The first 5 times I used it, I swear I fell asleep in the process. It’s a warm calming type of feeling so it really can put you to sleep. The more I used this, the less interested I became, it started feeling like those 15 minutes turned into a hassle and I wasn’t enjoying it nearly as much. I think part of that reason is because I don’t have many wrinkles or fine lines, so I wasn’t noticing it working on me. There were many days I wanted to skip it. And to be honest I ended up giving it to my mom when I had 10 days left, and she did the rest.
I don’t think this is a bad product at all, but not for someone my age that doesn’t have wrinkles anyways. My mom could definitely tell a difference after just a few uses though.
What I did notice was it gave my skin a really healthy glow. Plus I have some “number elevens” and it reduced the appearance of those, which is a good thing!
Would I purchase this again? I personally wouldn’t because I wasn’t able to tell a huge difference, anyone that does have wrinkles or fine lines should definitely check this out. Or if you suffer from acne try that one out. Buy it at Ulta and if you don’t like it, return it, their return policy is my favorite! :)
I hope this gave you some good insight on this mask! Do you think you will buy it?
I have been curious about this, but I am 27 too and I just don’t think it would be worth the money for me! Now I won’t but it….more money for Bella Eyes! :D
Yea it may be more worth it later on in life if the product is still around! For now I’ll just stick to my anti-aging skincare routine, for preventative measures! Definitely more money for Bella eyes!:mrgreen::mrgreen:
What are “number elevens”?
“Number elevens” are lines between your eyebrows, like if you furrow your brow a lot. Mine is from concentrating and focusing when I read. I wear glasses and I’ve heard that can cause them too! If that still doesn’t answer your question, Google it, I’m sure there are pictures of them!
OH! I know what they are, all to well. I have those now that I’m older. I just have never heard that term. Lol. Thanks!
I don’t like that it stops working after 30 days! But if it works, but would be worth it. I’m with you right now, I don’t have wrinkles so it probably isn’t something I need right now. This is an excellent review, though! Thanks for linking up with Hump Day Happenings.
I didn’t like that either, they made it that way so you had to buy a new one every 30 days. This girl won’t be buying one for a long time though! Thanks so much for stopping by! I love Hump Day Happenings! :)
I probably wouldn’t buy this because, luckily, I don’t have too many wrinkles. Now if they had one that took away under eye bags from being kept up all night by small children…that I would buy.
Haha yea maybe they will make one like that! But now you know something that can work if/when you do get wrinkles!
I’ve actually read a blog post on this before, and that blogger had really good results. I suppose it’s fair to say this mask is not good for preventative care, but it is good for repair care!
Yea that’s absolutely right! But I do have a pair of “number elevens” and those are a lot less defined! So it does work! I’ll just wait until I have more wrinkles to buy it again! :)
Believe it or not these LED lights do work but are much better if you can have it done in a professional setting. That way the lights are much stronger and do not need to be done daily but this might be a good way to keep up professional treatment results!
Yea absolutely! I did read that LED lights really are good for your skin and anti-aging. Getting it done at a salon or Dermatologists is so much more money though, so for the budget conscious, this may be an option!
Anna, that mask is indeed “bizarre”! I have never seen anything like it. If it came in black, it would be perfect for May 4, lol. That’s interesting that your mom felt that it made a difference for her. Maybe I’ll give it a go one of these days when I’m at Ulta ;)
Haha that would really be scary if it was in black! Yea it definitely does work, I’ve seen other reviews too that said it worked. It’s not that it didn’t work on me and I didn’t have any results, it just wasn’t as noticeable on me!
Yes, you look too young for wrinkles, Anna ;)
I could do with it Anna I am 43 and have two teenagers I have wrinkles a plenty ( or frown Lines ) – looks very interesting.
Yea it is very interesting and very different from any other anti-aging product out there. You should definitely give it a try! :)
