Lip Crayon Throwdown

April 24, 2014 By TheBeautySection 37 Comments

Lip Crayons

Hey everyone!!

So “Lip Crayons” have been all the rage for quiet some time now. 1. Probably because most of them are pretty nourishing. 2. They are fool proof, almost all of the ones I own can be put on without using a mirror. and 3. The color payoff is on point.  Stick around to see which brand I think is the best. Lip Crayon Throwdown here we go…

*Disclaimer: I haven’t tried every brand of lip crayon out there. This is merely just a competition between the ones I own. I’m sure there are even better brands than this.

Lip Crayon

Lip Crayon

Revlon Colorbust Matte Balm in Standout | I love a good matte lipstick because they last much longer, this is no exception. This can last for hours, even after you eat. The color pigmentation is crazy good being very opaque. And these go on so smooth, just like butter. What you see in the tube is what you get. This has a slight minty scent to it, but I find it refreshing. Most of the time matte lipsticks can be really drying, but not this one it is packed with moisture. | $8.99 at Ulta

Lip CrayonLip Crayon

Flower Lip Suede Velvet Lip Chubby in Life’s a Peach | I love this color! I had been looking for a color like this for a while, it’s like a neon peach color. It does feel very velvety on the lips which is a nice feeling. It last for a decent amount of time, but just be prepared to apply it again. I found it was a kind of hard to get this to be opaque, I had to use several coats and you can still kind of see my lips through it. | $7.98 at Walmart

Lip Crayon

Lip Crayon

Wet N Wild Megaslicks Balm Stain in A Stiff Pink | This is a really great balm stain, because it does actually stain the lips. I had a hard time getting it off, but really that’s worth it to me if it’s going to stay on all day. The color is a really good every day pink, that is opaque. This formula is moisturizing. The only problem I have with this is the lid always falls off and can sometimes create a mess, but I may have just gotten a faulty one. | $2.99 at drugstores

Lip Crayon

Lip Crayon

Pop Beauty Pouty Pop Crayon in Fuchsia Flirt | Out of all the lip crayons I own, this is probably my least favorite. I don’t feel like it’s very special, but it is a pretty color. There is nothing wrong with this, I just don’t gravitate towards using this one. It’s not super long lasting, but it is nourishing. | This color is only sold individually on Amazon for $5.49 or you can buy a kit at Ulta with 6 colors in it for $25.00

Lip Crayon

Lip Crayon

Be a Bombshell Cosmetics Lip Crayon in Hot Damn | I love how rich this color is and it feels very smooth on the lips. But for the price, I think there are other great lip crayons that are even better. I do love how sleek the packaging is though. | $14 from Be A Bombshell Cosmetics.

Moment of Truth

So who in my opinion wins the Lip Crayon Throwdown? Revlon Colorburst Lip Crayon. These are so pigmented, last forever, and are a great price. I have several of these in different colors and they are just my go-to lip crayons. So if you are looking for a good lip crayon you have to check these out! They come in so many colors so you will definitely find something you like.

.Have you tried any lip crayons? Which one is your favorite?

Apparently I live under a rock because I didn’t even know these existed. I’ve recently started wearing lipstick but these look like a more practical every day solution than lipstick, especially with 2 little kids who needs lots of kisses throughout the day. :)

There are definitely ones that are more moisturizing than others! I would definitely start with the original Revlon Kissable Balm Stains, they are really nourishing plus great color payoff and they stay on for a long time! Those are absolutely my go to’s! Let me know if you try them! :)

Absolutely! If you never wear lipstick then these are great! They are just like a chapstick, with actual color payoff. There are tons of neutral colors too, I just love the bold bright ones! :)

This is great. I haven’t worn lipstick (even once) since I got pregnant three years ago. (Crazy right?!) This motivates me to dive back in.

Oh great! Since you haven’t worn it in a while, start out with a color that’s kind of like your lips but better, and you’ll be able to get used to it better. Me on the other hand, I like very bold, bright colors! :)

I’m a huge fan of the lip crayons and the Revlon kissables are the best. I also love the Wet n Wild ones because they are cheap and they do last all day. I’m with you on the POP. I have one and its nothing to write home about.

Glad we agree and have the same tastes! Yea as you can read, I love the Revlon ones, but the Wet n Wild came in as a close second, because they are so great for such a great price!

Yea definitely try one the word “balm” in the title. Like the original Revlon lip crayons are called Kissable Balm Stains, the balm makes them much more moisturizing. Not all lip crayons are.

So apparently I need to take a shot at one of these. I really need to make sure I have one that doesn’t smudge and leave prints because of kisses on a certain 6 year old boy’s cheek before he gets on the bus in the morning.

Aww that’s cute!! I would probably try one of the Revlon Matte shades like I mentioned! Because they are matte they will stay on and not smudge. They come in more colors too, so you wouldn’t have to pick a bright red if you didn’t want to! :)

I have read really great reviews about the Revlon lip crayons, so I’m not surprised those won! I read another blog which said Jordana lip crayons are really good. I got the shade recommended by the blogger, but it looked kind of garish on me. That just goes to show not every product works on every body!

That is true! Even the ones I showed today may not look right on other people. I like to try a lot of colors. I’m definitely a bold kind of lipstick girl. I may have to try out the Jordana one though, I know that brand can be pretty inexpensive!
