What is Makeup Geek?

Makeup Geek is a company founded by Beauty Guru on YouTube Marlena ( Makeup Geek)… she is so super sweet. Her videos were becoming more and more popular so she made her own makeup company from scratch. She has tons of products now like 60+ eye shadows, foiled eye shadows, blushes, lipsticks, brushes, eyeliners… etc. Please check out her channel and the Makeup Geek site, you won’t regret it.

Packaging:

Today I will just be reviewing the eye shadows because that Is all I own from Makeup Geek. The eye shadows come in either a pan form, or compact form. Pan is what I got, and it is simply a single eye shadow in a metal pan. A compact would be any single eye shadow you would buy at the drugstore, most of the time plastic and bulky. I chose to get the shadows in pan because they take up so much less room, and they are cheaper. Pan shadows will stick to any magnetic case like a Z Palette, I got a Large one (pictured below). Each pan comes with 1.8 grams, which is actually a little more than a MAC pan shadow. The pans have a label with the name of the shadow on the bottom (also pictured below)

Price & Where to Buy:

I got two types of shadows in my first haul. One is the regular shadow line which is $5.99 and the other is the foiled shadow line and they are $9.99. These are super affordable. If you can’t justify getting a lot at once, just get a few once a month or something… that’s what I’m planning on doing. Makeup Geek is only available on their website here, with cheap and quick shipping.

Swatches:

All of these shadows are in the regular shadow line. Peach Smoothie, Cocoa Bear, Bitten, Cosmopolitan, Wisteria, Poolside.

These shadows are from the foiled shadow line. Flame Thrower, Grandstand, Mesmerized.

Product:

These are SO SO SO good!! They are super creamy and buttery and go on the lids flawlessly. Out of the 9 I have so far none of them are chalky or patchy. They are all really true to color. Marlena says that with the foiled shadows you don’t even need a primer. I actually have not tested out that theory because I have oily lids, and feel like I always need a primer. The foiled shadows are the most unique texture… they feel like a cream, but apply like a powder. Amazing. I honestly couldn’t tell you which one was my favorite out of the ones I own.

Final Thoughts:

I CANNOT wait to get more of these, and I also can’t stress enough how good these are. First of all, you are paying HALF the price of a MAC shadow, and are getting the same if not better quality. I just can’t say enough good things about these. The colors are so unique, but there are still those staple neutrals that everyone needs in their makeup collection. I am just so excited about this brand, I have no idea what took me so long to buy these shadows.
