Hey friends! I hope you are off to a great week! Last week I was enjoying the sun, sand, water while I was living it up at the BEACH! Sometimes it’s so hard to come back home and get back into a normal routine. But I’ll try my hardest! :)
Today I am sharing with you My Haircare Routine from start to finish. Keep reading to see exactly what I do.
My Haircare Routine
*Disclaimer: Just before we get started, I don’t claim to have the healthiest most beautiful hair in the world. But I do have color treated hair, that I heat style all the time. My hair manages to at least stay somewhat healthy through all that. So, now that, that’s over…
Shampoo & Conditioner:
For Shampoo & Conditioner I use the Matrix Biolage ColorLast System / Okay first of all I am obsessed with how this smells, it smells like I have just been to the salon and they washed my hair, you know what I’m talking about girls. It’s amazing.
But let’s get down to the nitty gritty (or should I say squeaky clean) of why I really love this system. The shampoo really cleans my hair, the conditioner really conditions and moisturizes my hair. Neither of them strip my hair color but they protect it. I don’t know about you but I don’t want to spend a lot of money getting my hair colored to have a shampoo/conditioner strip it away. This system also doesn’t dry my scalp out. I can’t tell you how many shampoo brands I have tried, that over time dried my scalp out.
I have repurchased this shampoo & conditioner system more than any other set before. That should say a lot about how much I love it.
I buy the 1 Liter bottles in each.
Leave-In & Brush:
After I get out of the shower I ring out my hair with a towel and spray in the It’s A 10 Miracle Leave-In Product. This is one of those products I heard about for years but just never really felt like spending the money on a leave in conditioner. I finally decided to break down and get the smaller size to really see what the hype was all about. I fell in love, like where in the world have I been?! I can absolutely tell a difference in my hair when I don’t use this and when I do.
- My hair has way less frizz when I use this
- It is softer
- Heat protects
- And of course detangles… I have some mean tangles after I wash and condition my hair and this really helps me get right through them.
After spraying that through my hair from the ears down I brush it out with my Wet Brush… if you don’t have this brush, what are you waiting for?! It works exactly how it sounds… a brush for wet hair (however you can use it on dry hair too). Basically it glides through your hair causing tangles to magically disappear. Trust me I used to only brush my hair after a shower and not use a detangler, so this brush really works. You maybe thinking, it’s not good to “brush” wet hair. This isn’t a brush like you are thinking, the bristles are all plastic and spread apart so it isn’t pulling or breaking your hair.
Styling:
So I have a drawer full of hair styling products that I just never use. But these two have my heart.
The Living Proof Full Thickening Mousse is perfect at creating volume. I use this on my roots and and it seriously makes my hair look like I’ve gone through so much trouble to tease it, when I definitely haven’t. I absolutely love how lightweight this mousse is, it doesn’t weigh my hair down, or cause it to be greasy at all. I use this on damp hair, starting at the roots, and going all the way to the ends of my hair, before I blow dry it.
Also if I am blow drying my hair with my Buttercup Dryer from Drybar (review here), I use the Bumble and bumble Bb Hairdresser’s Invisible Oil on the ends of my hair to provide a healthy shine, smooth touch, and anti-frizz. I really love this stuff, and can tell a difference when I don’t use it. Just to warn you, a little goes a long way, you need just the tiniest bit of this to get the job done.
Dry Shampoo:
I feel like I have used a million and one dry shampoos in my lifetime, but this one is definitely one of my all time favorites. It is the Elizabeth and James Nirvana White Dry Shampoo. If you are familiar with the brand it is the Olsen Twins cosmetic line, they are known for their perfumes, Nirvana Black and Nirvana White. I never ended up buying the perfumes, but I noticed they came out with dry shampoos with the same scents as the perfume… genius. This smells absolutely amazing, the best smelling dry shampoo I’ve ever used. But above the smell, it does actually work really great. It soaks up excess oil on the roots while providing volume so your hair doesn’t look limp and lifeless.
So that is my haircare routine as of lately. Sometimes I add another step, or take a step away but for the most part this is what I do.
How do you take care of your hair? I would love to know in the comments below!
I have been meaning to try Living Proof and It’s A 10 leave in. Thanks for letting me know how they work! What brand purple shampoo do you use? Also do you ever buy products on EBay?
Yes you should definitely try both of those! :)
Right now for purple shampoo I am using Daddy-O from Lush. It works great! I have actually never bought any beauty products from EBay! Have you?
Hi Anna! I love your blog! Thank you so much for sharing it with the world! Now, I’m excited about trying the hair products. Where do you get the best prices in these? I search online and all together came up to $150!?
Aww thank you so much Joanna! Honestly most of this is accumulated over time, not all at once so it doesn’t hurt the wallet as bad. I typically get these things from either Ulta or Sephora tho. I always get the shampoo & conditioner at Ulta because they have hair events where the liter bottles are way cheaper. Ulta has more coupons and deals than Sephora, but they don’t carry everything I use. Good luck finding them all! :)
Thank you for sharing your hair always looks Amazing!!!!!
Aww thank you so much Robbie! :)
I am SO bad about taking care of my hair — I am so good about my skin and body, but my hair is pretty neglected. I try to remember to put oils or moisturizing creams in it after the shower, but more often than not I forget, lol
I have been using that Its a 10 stuff, though, and I do notice a difference when I use it! :-D
Yea I haven’t always been the best at hair care. Now I’m always trying to make sure I take care of my blonde hair since it can be pretty sensitive. Doing that has helped me keep up a pretty good hair care routine! Yea I definitely tell a difference when I use It’s a 10 and when I don’t! I love it!
