Hey everyone! I hope you are doing great today! I took a little break from blogging during the summer, but I am SO back and so ready to dive right in with you guys today! Today I am sharing with you My Morning Skincare Routine. I have combo/oily skin so the products I use have thoroughly been tested on my skin type, but everything you see in this post will work on all skin types. So keep reading to see how I start my morning.
My Morning Skincare Routine
Starting the day off right with good skincare is totally the way to go, whether you wear makeup or not, it is always important to take of your skin in the morning.
I keep it simple in the mornings because I don’t want to put too much product on my skin to cause it to be too oily.
My Top Skincare I have to do every morning…
- Cleanse
- Moisturize
- Protect
Let’s go deeper.
Cleanse.
Right now I am currently using the Fresh Soy Face Cleanser, this cleanser is a lightweight gel that gently removes impurities and makeup, cleaning the face really well without stripping it.
Trust me you only need the tiniest amount of this cleanser to cleanse your whole face, a little goes a long way. After using this your skin will feel so fresh and clean but still moisturized.
You can buy this at Sephora or Amazon for $42.
Here is another one of my all time fave cleansers. Review HERE.
Moisturize
It is so important to moisturize your face no matter what skin type you have. For YEARS I thought because my skin was oily I just didn’t need to moisturize it… like ever. Boy was I wrong. If you have oily skin, you need to moisturize your skin, because if you don’t your skin will overcompensate for the loss of moisture and it will overproduce oil, causing way more oil on your skin than you want. Trust me I have experienced this for sure.
With oily skin you want to find the right moisturizer, nothing too heavy or too hydrating. A Sephora expert directed me to the Sunday Riley Tidal / Brightening Enzyme Water Cream. THIS STUFF IS SO GOOD!
It is a water cream base that goes on like a cloud, it is so lightweight but really moisturizing with ingredients like hyaluronic acid that plump the skin with hydration, but doesn’t over do it. It sinks right into the skin, perfect for makeup.
You can buy this at Sephora or Amazon for $65.
Protect.
Protecting your skin from the sun is another super important part of my morning skincare routine. I would be lying to you tho if I said I have been doing this for a long time… because I haven’t. I used to use a daily SPF on my face a long time ago, then I ran out and just kept forgetting to repurchase it.
I knew it was important but I never really thought it added to my skincare/makeup routine. One day I was watching a couple beauty vids on YouTube and literally every single person was talking about how important SPF for your face is, and that wasn’t what the videos were even about. A few days later I went and got a facial and the esthetician told me I needed to use one. So I added it to my cart and here we are.
I’ve been using the Supergoop 100% Mineral Smooth & Poreless Matte Screen SPF 40 for the past few months and now I can’t imagine not using it. It has a matte finish which is honestly one of my favorite parts, we all know sunscreen can be a bit oily and greasy, so this being matte is top notch! It also has a tiny bit of coverage that really smooths out the skin, so if you had to just run out the door with this on, your skin would like nice. Best part, it is SPF 40!!
SPF helps prevent skin cancer, and also delays the signs of aging. So this is a MUST in my skincare routine now!
You can buy this at Sephora or Amazon for $38
So those are the 3 things I HAVE to do every morning before I start my makeup routine. All of these together work so well for my skin and go great under makeup. They do the best they can at keeping me from being super oily. You just have to learn your skin and see what works best for you!
