Hey everyone!
First of all let me say, I am so sorry it’s been so long since I have done a post (last post). I had a lot going on, and time just slipped away from me. I hope you are doing great and enjoying the summer weather. Welcome if you are new here, make yourself at home, welcome back if you are a regular! Today I wanted to talk to you about a super cool product that will literally change the color of your foundation, so you aren’t stuck with a hundred bottles of foundation in a hundred different shades. Keep reading to learn all about NYX Foundation Mixer.
NYX Foundation Mixer
What is a Foundation Mixer?
It is exactly as it sounds, it is a product you mix in with your foundation to change the original formula. The one I’m telling you guys about today is meant to make a dark foundation lighter. Which is perfect for those times when your skin fluctuates from shade to shade. They also offer darker mixers to add to your foundation to make them darker.
…
Have you ever gone to the pool one weekend and gotten a nice tan, so you go out and buy a darker “summer” foundation, but then it rains every day for the next 2 weeks so your face hasn’t seen the sun since… yea this was made for times like that… I know from experience! :)
Price + Where to Buy:
$9.99, anywhere NYX is sold. I got mine at Ulta.
I actually heard about this product a couple years ago and literally could not find it anywhere for 2 years. I mean I wasn’t on some crazy hunt for it everytime I entered an Ulta, but if I happened to remember, I would look… so as you can imagine I was pretty happy after I finally found it. (I’m sure I could have just bought it online somewhere too, hehe).
How to use:
- Start out with a clean face (always).
- Pump out how much foundation you use on the back of your hand.
- Add a dot of the mix into your foundation, the more you use, the lighter it will get. This may take a few chances to get it just right.
- Mix the foundation and mixer together with your brush, beauty blender or fingers.
- Apply to face like normal.
The mixer can also be used for concealer as well.
The Difference:
As you can see from the Before/After pictures the foundation became lighter shade when I mixed in the white mixer. This ended up being the perfect shade for me… and if next week my skin is a different shade I can play around with how much mixer I add in. I seriously feel like a scientist over here. You gotta try this! :)
Formula.
So you have your perfect foundation formula that you have searched the planet over for, then you add a foreign product to it… does it change the formula of your foundation? Yes and no. I have oily skin, so I try to find matte/semi-matte foundations for my skin. The NYX Foundation Mixer isn’t matte, but it isn’t super moisturizing either, it is somewhere right in between. So instead of keeping my face matte all day, it does add a little oil the later the day goes on. Definitely not a deal breaker in my opinion.
NYX actually does make a few mixers that will add luminosity to your foundation. So if you prefer wearing a matte foundation during your workflow, and then on those “Girls Nights” you want to glow, those would be perfect for you… but that is a whole different post! :)
Final Thoughts:
I love this! Whoever thought about it is genius, or they peeked into my makeup collection and saw how many half-used bottles of foundations I have because the color doesn’t match me anymore. If you wear foundation at all… you need this! It’s fun to play around with, but it actually works. Check it out!
