Happy FRIDAY!!!
Do you have any fun plans for the weekend? If you can tell I’ve been talking a lot about organizing and cleaning out. If you didn’t know this about me, I LOVE organizing and like I’ve said before the beginning of a new year is the perfect time to really get organized. Today I’m showing you how I organize those pesky samples I get from different places. When they are organized how I’m going to show you, I swear you will use them so much more. Keep reading to get your organizing skills on!
How To: Organize Your Beauty Samples
I don’t know about you, but when I get samples from Sephora (you can get a bag full of samples at Sephora a few times a year), Ulta, or my IPSY bag chances are they are going to get shoved into a deep dark drawer never to be seen again. Seriously. So I decided instead of letting these things get piled up and never used, I would fix that problem. Keep in mind this is the EASIEST thing to do.
What You Need:
A Glass Jar of any size (mine is pretty slim and tall with a lid as you can see) found at TJ Maxx, Marshall’s, Target…
A plethora of samples
I think you can see where I’m going with this but if not…
What To Do:
Put all of the samples in the jar until it is completely full… sometimes you just have to play with it because samples are usually different shapes and sizes.
So how easy was that?!? I know right, like the easiest thing ever and it actually looks good.
I keep mine on my bathroom counter so when I’m washing my face or getting ready for the day I can see those and I’m telling you I am so much more inclined to using them when I can see them.
Also if you don’t want to put it out on your counter, another really great place to keep a jar full of samples, is in your guest bathroom. Perfect for overnight guests who may have forgotten something like a moisturizer, or eye cream. If you plan on keeping it in a guest bathroom I would put a mini toothpaste and some small body wash or shampoo too.
This is a really easy DIY kind of project that you can do in about 5 minutes. Let me know if are going to do this with your samples!
Also follow along on Instagram for a new series called #SampleSaturday where I will be taking 3 samples from my jar and testing them out. I will share with you if I would purchase the full size or not. Use the hashtag #SampleSaturday if you want to play along too! :) I will keep going until I run out.
Do you get a lot of beauty samples?
i love that! i find that i need them organized by purpose so in my bathroom closet which is right by my sink i have little target $1 section baskets each with a different purpose… some are small hair products (i keep full-size ones in a different basket with my brushes), some are face washes/serums/moisturizers, some are eye things (primers, shadows, pencils, etc), some are face makeups and then lip products. i hate how easy it is to hoard samples when you don’t know what they are! it’s way hard to stay on top of them once you start drowning. #firstworldproblemsforsure
It sounds like you are pretty organized though by having the little baskets for different things. It is totally easy to hoard things though, and then completely forget about it. That’s why I started #SampleSaturday too because it helps me remember to use them! :)
I have way too many samples and have been wanting to get them organized – I love this simple yet effective solution! It makes such a difference actually seeing what you have right in front of you.

Yea this is seriously the easiest thing to do, plus it helps you use them, plus it looks nice sitting out! You should totally do this! :)
This is so smart, and it looks great in your bathroom! I get these samples a lot when I buy online from Ulta, and I find them months or years later when they aren’t good anymore. This would be a great way to see them everyday and remember to use them.
Thank you so much!! Yea I was the same way before I started doing this, I would never even think to use the things. Now I see them when I’m washing my face and think I should probably use one of these today. It really helps.
I keep them in a paper bag but this is better. Using them for travelling too!
Oh yea I love using these samples for travelling, it definitely makes for traveling light! :)
What a great idea! I need to organize my samples. It can be a challenge to find the one’s I want to try. #BeautyFrenzyFriday
Thank you so much! Yea you are right, that’s why I started putting them in the glass jar, so I can see them all! Thanks for stopping by! :)
What a great and easy idea. I think you are right, that you don’t use these unless you see them. I’m going to create one too! Visiting from Sitsgirls Sharefest! :)
Thank you so much! Yea I completely forget about them if they are out of sight! Awesome! If you use your samples on Saturday play along on Instagram with the hashtag #SampleSaturday! :) Thanks for stopping by! :)
I don’t actually have many samples YET hah, i do a lot of couponing so I am expecting quite a few through the door any day now . What a great idea. xox

Oh yea and once you start getting them they will start piling up! They are nice to use when traveling too! :)
Visiting from the Linkup! I’m a big fan of apothecary jars for beauty storage too. I use one for my MU brushes, and a triple stacked apothecary jar for storing nail polish & eyeshadow singles :)
Oh yea! Apothecary jars can be used for so many things! They are great, and I like the way they look!!
Awesome post! I was just recently looking at my drawer of samples (that is literally bursting at the seems) and saying that I really needed to start using them. I think I just need to separate them — skincare and makeup — and put them where I will remember them. Like you did in this post.
That’s a really cool idea you have — about doing sample Saturday. Very neat! I’m following you and I look forward to seeing how that goes. :-)
Thank you so much!! I know mine was like that too before I decided to put them in a jar. I was seriously never using them because I couldn’t see them! Yea it’s great to separate them by type. My jar is mainly just skincare and my makeup samples are in my makeup drawer.
Yea definitely follow along on Saturdays, and use the hashtag if you try any of your samples!! :)
Thats true and I have a few jars like that! Maybe I could organize them into certain types, so all face creams are together and ready to use!!
Yea it’s really nice when you have them grouped together by what they are… makes finding something a lot faster!
