Hey friends!
This time of year it seems like there is some kind of outdoor event every weekend. I love going to festivals, ballgames, picnics, and concerts but HATE when your makeup melts off due to the heat. Why spend all that time putting it on if it’s just going to slip off. Keep reading for my makeup tips and products to use at your next outdoor event.
Urban Decay De Slick Setting Spray: This is also available in a few different kinds, but another great one would be the All Nighter Setting Spray if you are going to be out all night and want your makeup to last. I love these setting sprays, they really do work. I spray them on before I put my makeup on and after and it keeps your makeup on longer. If you have oily skin at some point you will start to get oily, but just bring this with you and touch up later if you want. This is the old packaging by the way, so if you look for it, it looks completely different than this! :) | $30 and they last forever, hence the old packaging. | $19 here
NYX Shine Killer Primer: I use this after the setting spray. This is a silicone based primer that dries to a soft powdery finish. Perfect for keeping your makeup matte and oil free. If you are at an outdoor event you don’t want your makeup to look like an oil rig. You gotta take tons of selfies and you don’t want your forehead to glare the camera! :) So this is perfect to eliminate the shine. When you have this on, use a light weight oil free foundation | $13.99 at Ulta
Be a Bombshell The One Stick in Flustered: After foundation I use blush. The perfect blush to use for outdoor/all day events is a cream blush. These stay on FOREVER.

Cream blushes may look scary at first because when you first swatch them or apply them it is very intense, but you just use your fingers to rub the cream blush onto your cheeks. This brand is super blendable. When you have it all blended out, pop on your favorite powder blush on top and your blush with literally last ALL DAY. | $16 on Amazon.

Maybelline Dream Wonder Powder: After you’ve done all your face makeup go ahead and set it for the day with a powder. I love this one because it’s light and not cakey. It keeps my makeup fresh. Because I have super oily skin, if I’m going to an outdoor event I usually use two powders… I know that sounds like Cake Monster City, but it works for me. Click here to see my review on the Coty Airspun Loose Powder. | Maybelline $9.65 here.
Urban Decay Primer Potion: Moving on to your eyes… I use this every time I wear makeup and I LOVE it! It keeps your eye shadow from creasing or moving around. It also makes your eye shadow become more vibrant and pigmented. A tube of this stuff lasts so long too, I’ve literally been using the same tube for almost 2 years haha, a little goes a long way. Use this before applying eye shadow. | $18 and worth every penny.
Maybelline 24 Hour Color Tattoo in Barely Branded: Put this on after the primer potion. If you really want your eye shadow to last all day long, use a cream shadow under it. I love these, I have about 7 or 8 of these and they come in some really great fun colors and can be worn completely alone. But if you just want a neutral color to put on under eye shadow this is perfect. It is a champagne/skin color. These are really comparable to Mac’s Paint Pots for a fraction of the cost. | $5.60 here.
Juice Beauty Hydrating Mist: Last but not least, throw this in your purse or bag. This is perfect for re-hydrating your skin. If you are hot and sweating at an outdoor event, spritz this on your face and seriously you will feel so much better. You will feel refreshed and your makeup will look refreshed. I love these things. There are several different kinds of the market now, but I love this one because of the fresh clean scent. You can spray this on your face as many times as you want throughout the day to feel rejuvenated. | $22 here.
So there you have it! The whole idea to making your makeup last is to prime and set everything and you will have no problem getting your makeup to stay on through the whole event!
What products do you use when you are going to a hot outdoor event?
Wow! I just don’t need this sort of stuff in the UK as it is never really that hot (although every now & again it would be & then I’d just go make up free!). I wish I’d known about these types of products when I lived in the very humid Hong Kong though.
You are lucky it doesn’t get all that hot! It gets so hot here and humid that I have to use these things! Thanks for stopping by! :)
very helpful for my upcoming outdoor engagement pics! Thanks for linking up!
Aww congrats!! That’s so exciting! Thanks for the linkup! :)
This is the biggest problem I’ve had since moving to GA! I really like Laura Geller’s Spackle, but it’s just way too expensive for me. I’ll have to give a couple of these a try. Thanks so much for sharing, Anna!
Haha yea that GA weather will get ya! I hope you are liking GA so far though! :) Definitely give these a try, they should help! Thanks for stopping by!
Going to have to track down the Maybelline Color Tattoo next time I’m back in the states! That shade looks lovely.
It’s one of my favorite shades of those! In fact I just threw it on right now to run out the door! Thanks for stopping by! :)
I never thought to put the finishing spray on before you put your makeup on & then after. I’m going to give that a try. I airbrush my foundation because living in Florida, just going from the building to the car can cause you to melt :-) Great tips & I actually have an Ulta trip planned today so I will add that Shine Killer to my list. Good stuff!
Haha oh my goodness that’s funny about going from your car to a building! Humidity is a beast! I’ve never tried airbrush foundation but I’ve always been kind of curious! Let me know how you like the Shine Killer! Thanks for coming by today! :)
