Hey Everyone!
So we all buy things from time to time that we just regret buying. So today I am going to show you a few things I’ve purchased recently that just didn’t float my boat. Keep reading to see which products I’m talking about.
Products I Regret Buying
Disclaimer: Just because I regret buying these doesn’t mean you will too… we all have different opinions, but just know you have been warned about these products! :)
Let’s just go left to right…
1 // Bronzage Instant Color Gelee for Face and Body: I found this in the sale section at Ulta and was pretty excited to try it. Most of the time my body is darker than my face, so I bought this thinking it would give my face a nice “tan” to match my body… but oh was I wrong. The directions tells you you can use this with or without makeup. I used it with and it made everything super cakey, and streaky and GREEN. Yup you read that right, my face was a green/olive color, not cute. I would never buy this again. Ew.
2 // Aussie Total Miracle 7 in 1 Dry Shampoo: So for years I kept saying (to myself) that I wish Aussie had a dry shampoo. They have some really yummy smelling products, and actually good quality hair products, so I thought it would be a match made in heaven. It’s not… for me at least. 2 things I don’t like about it. The smell… it has a sickening fake grape scent that at first I thought I liked, but the more I used it started giving me headaches. The other thing I don’t like about it is it has a matte finish. Most peoples hair has a natural shine to it, some more so than others, but this creates a dull matte finish, making your hair look pretty odd, flat, and lifeless.
3 // Revlon Ultra HD Matte Lip Color in Addicted: This is a pretty new “matte” liquid lipstick, that I was pretty excited about because to be quiet honest their aren’t a lot of liquid lipsticks at the drugstore. But this to me isn’t a true matte, in fact mine would never really dry down. It stayed glossy and wet looking throughout the day… that isn’t matte. Plus the color, although very beautiful, wore off really quickly, and I had to keep reapplying.
4 // Prestige Total Intensity Eyeshadow in Makeup You Mind: Prestige isn’t a brand I notice that often, but it’s on the drugstore side in Ulta. This color is gorgeous right? I mean just look at it. But when applied, it comes off basically sheer with very little color, and very splotchy.. It is super hard to blend and honestly just doesn’t look good at all. But don’t skip everything Prestige has, they have some other really great things! And who knows, maybe I just got a bad one…
5 // They’re Real Benefit Push-Up Liner: This has to be the biggest regret. First of all it’s the most expensive, and second it just flat out didn’t work for me. I felt like I was wasting more product than actually using it. Basically you twist up the bottom until enough eye liner comes out to use (remember those old school lip glosses? think that!). Well I would twist and twist and nothing would come out, but just a little tiny bit. So I would use that… then the next day when I would take the cap off to use it again, tons of the product would have oozed (I hate that word) out into the cap. So I felt like it was a waste, plus I thought it was a flakey and didn’t apply smoothly at all. In my opinion there are tons better drugstore liners for a fraction of the price. Do yourself a favor with this one and just skip it.
So that is everything I regret buying recently. This was my first time doing a post like this, because typically if I don’t like something I know very soon and I return it as soon as I can. Do you like these types of posts?
What products do you regret buying? Do you return things if you don’t like them?
Oh my gosh, thank you for sharing this! This seems more important to me, actually, than product recommendations. I don’t return products if I don’t like them, no. Mostly because I used them, but also because the customer ISN’T always right in Austria and their return policies here are worlds apart than in the States.
Also, I hate the word ooze, as well. ;)
Aww you are welcome! Thank you for stopping by! Yikes, I’m sorry the return policy isn’t so easy there. Here we are return cosmetics even if they have been used. Hopefully they throw them away when they have been used then returned. If it’s something I hate I just wanna get it out of my way and get my money back!
I was also pretty disappointed in the Revlon ‘matte’ lipstick. It says it’ll be matte! Why give it a name like that and not have it set to a matte finish? I’m so confused over that — but if you were coming at it from the expectation that it’s more of a suede-finish lipstick, they are nice. I got one color and noticed that while it does transfer like crazy whenever I would drink or snack on things, as long as I didn’t do any serious eating the color stayed rather vibrant. So….yeah, it was a dud for me, too, but I think I’ll still wear it from time to time.
Yea totally disappointed in this! I wear matte lips every day so when I’m out makeup shopping anything that says matte always catches my attention, and this isn’t matte at all. It’s like false advertising. The color of mine is very pretty but I just hate the formula. Mine didn’t last on the lips long at all, I kept reapplying all day. Oh well, I will still wear it from time to time too!
Thank you, for the review. The matte lip color is nice; glad to know it has the appearance of a lip gloss.
You are welcome! Thank you for stopping by! :)
Every person I follow has complained about that liner. Thanks for reviewing these. It really helps when I go to make a purchase.
I know, they should really try to reformulate it or something! You are welcome! These types of posts help me as well! :)
I was thinking about trying the They’re Real liner, but now I might skip it! It definitely doesn’t seem worth the money…
Yea I can’t stand that eyeliner, it definitely doesn’t live up to the hype. If I were you I would try anything else before this one haha! :)
