Hey everyone!
I don’t know if you’ve noticed but Real Techniques came out with a whole new set of brushes and they are absolutely, gorgeous. I picked one up a couple weeks ago and have been using it ever since, so I wanted to give you my thoughts on this brush. Keep reading to learn more.
Real Techniques Bold Metals Contour Brush Review
What It Is:
“Real Techniques Bold Metals 301 Flat Contour Brush has a dense, flattop head that creates shadows and highlights on targeted areas of face to play up your favorite features. Ideal for contouring and sculpting.”
Packaging:
Let’s just go ahead and put this out there, these brushes are stunning. Honestly when I saw these in Ulta I was absolutely drawn to them just by how they looked. The brush I got comes in a very pretty rose gold finish. There are 3 different types of brushes in the Bold Metals Collection, base, eyes, and finish each coming in a different “metal” such as gold, platinum, and rose gold. I like the idea of this. Also the brush handles have a really nice diamond shape to them, making them really easy to hold. The bristles are a white, but as you can tell mine has been gently used.
Price:
$25.99 and can be found Exclusively at Ulta. I know what you are thinking… $26 for a Real Techniques brush. If you are familiar with RT brushes, they are normally $12 or so, so this is a big leap. When I first found these at Ulta I had no idea how much they were until the lady rang me up. I went ahead and bought the contour brush, but knew in my mind as soon as I left I would be returning it because of the price tag. Without giving away the end result of this review… I obviously didn’t return it. :)
Performance:
This brush is really easy to use because the bristles are dense making it so easy to contour any area of your face. The bristles are also very soft that when applying to the face it feels like velvet. This is the perfect shape to really get in those areas and contour. It blends cream or powder products without looking patchy or streaky. Right now I’ve been using it with the Anastasia Contour Kit, which I will eventually do a review on… I just got it a couple days ago.
Final Thoughts:
I really really like this brush. Believe me, if I didn’t I would have returned it a while ago. It really just works. I’ve tried other brushes for contouring and they just don’t seem to pack on the color and blend it out, but this one does. I think it is definitely worth the money because of it’s really great quality and how well it works. I highly recommend this brush if you are looking for a great contouring brush. Click here to buy.
Do you like to contour and highlight?
Whoa, $26 is a TON of money for a brush! It’s gorgeous, but I’m interested to see if any other lower-priced brush lines will come out with something comparable!
I know $26 is a lot for one makeup brush. Hopefully a company will come out with something just like it but cheaper, I’m pretty sure this $26 brush is a dupe for a really high end brush! :/
I have BareMinerals brushes right now, but they are getting pretty old. I’ve been meaning to replace them, but I didn’t know if I should just go with the same thing or try a new brand. This one sounds great! I’m with you, they look really cool! I really like to use my makeup to contour, so these brushes sound way better! Thanks for the tip :)
Yea these do look really nice! If you are wanting to buy several brushes though, I would probably go with Sigma, they are cheaper and really great quality. I talk about them all the time! I think the RT brushes are good for specialty brushes! :)
I’ve been contouring for a while now, but just recently started to dab my foot into highlighting. :-) I LOVE to contour my face, so when I saw this brush pop up in Ulta I was SO tempted to purchase it….but I just haven’t taken the plunge yet. And then I was totally crushed when — after a crazy weekend away from home — I returned to find that I missed the 25% off ALL Real Technique brushes at Ulta. Trust me, I was kicking myself for missing that deal, as I would’ve grabbed this brush in a heartbeat!
And you have the ABH contour palette! Gah! You’re the second blogger I’ve seen today that’s featured it. I need to get that palette! I’ve been meaning to for a while now, but just haven’t taken the ‘dive’ to get it. :-P I look forward to reading your thoughts on it, girl! :-)
Aww man I missed the 25% off all Real Technique brushes sale too, that would have been the perfect time to get one of these tho because they are expensive! Hopefully they do that again soon!
I wasn’t going to get the ABH palette but I broke down and just went with it, I’m still testing it out so I haven’t really gathered up any thoughts on it yet, but after I use it a while you will definitely see a review from me! :)
These brushes really look stunning- but ouch the price! ;-)
I know, the price was a turn off for me too until I used it… now I kind of understand the price! :)
Oh I really need new brushes and am so glad you posted this!
I’m glad I could help, like I said I haven’t tried the other ones but I’m sure they won’t disappoint! :)
I do not wear makeup a whole lot but I love the rich gold hues!
I know they are so pretty right?!
Thank you for sharing your thoughts!
Absolutely!! :)
