Review: Coty Airspun Face Powder

March 27, 2014 By TheBeautySection 15 Comments

Review of the Coty Airspun Face Powder, amazing coverage, soft like a cloud, and a really great price. This is a MUST have makeup item.

Being the oily girl I am, I always finish my makeup off with setting powder, so finding a good yet affordable one is always right up my alley since I use the stuff like I’m going through water. Finding the Coty Airspun Face Powder was a little bit out of the ordinary… this powder is found in the NAIL CARE section of drugstores. Why in the world would a face powder be in the nail section? I have probably literally passed this powder hundreds of times not even knowing it was there.

First of all this stuff has been around since 1935, something that has been on the market for that long and is still being sold must be good!

I love it because it sets my makeup flawlessly leaving it matte for a good portion of the day. Plus you can use it alone as foundation, or over foundation to set it.  I’ve worn it over a full face of makeup and also just as I was running out the door and needed something on my face, it works great for both.  It’s also very comparable to high end powders I’ve tried, and I can definitely see myself using this for years to come.

Airspun Face Powder Review

The Basics.

This powder only comes in a handful of colors ranging from neutral to peach, or honey so I got mine in translucent, it’s just easier than trying to color match. I also picked up the extra coverage because I thought it may help even more with my oiliness, but it does also come in normal coverage.  It comes with 2.3oz of powder and can be found in drugstores or here. for $6.99 which is a complete bargain for how great it works and how much you get.

Airspun Face Powder Review

 The Goods.

This powder is “an exclusive Microspun formula where loose powder particles are spun and swirled until they reach cloudlike softness.” That alone sounds amazing. It is super soft but also very natural looking. It won’t make you Mrs. Cakeface. It does come with a white puffer to apply it with, but I always feel like those just get in the way. I typically apply this with just an all over face powder brush. It does a great job of blending the powder out to a nice soft finish.

One thing I will mention is it has a very distinct perfume smell. That doesn’t bother me because after a few minutes you can’t smell it anymore, however if you are sensitive to smells this may bother you.

Will you be trying this? What is your favorite face powder?

Yea an oily girl definitely shouldn’t wear this everyday! Since doing this post a long time ago I have found a better loose powder for me, but I do still wear this from time to time… in fact I have it on today! :)

What do you use now? Please share :) I am just looking for a setting powder for my makeup, and especially for under eyes. I heard good reviews of the NYX HD finishing powder in banana

I use Givenchy’s Matte powder, I actually have a blog post coming up on it very very soon, so check back or subscribe to my email list so you don’t miss that one because I will go into more depth than I am now! I haven’t used the banana powder from NYX, but I have used one of their matte powders in a compact, I liked it quiet well! :)

Does this translucent powder leave your face white? I’m dark complected and not sure of a color.

I’ve never had it leave my face white at all, and if it does just blend it in even more. It is very finely milled so it should be perfect for you!

My mother used this product for a long long time until the manufacturing was switched to China. Whatever the ingredients’ differences, my mother’s face broke into a hive! Can we find the same product made in France or US?

Aww man, that is such a bummer! I actually didn’t realize this was made in China now. I will be on the lookout for something similar to this that is made in the states for sure.

Haha I know! Thankfully after just a few seconds the smell is gone! If it lingered throughout the day, I don’t know if I could use it!

Wow this is a throw back :-) My grandmother used this and I remember seeing this on her bathroom counter when I was little. You’re right, the company must be doing something right if they’re still around.
