St. Tropez Bronzing Mousse Review

April 22, 2015 By TheBeautySection 6 Comments

Review of the very popular St. Tropez Bronzing Mousse... is it worth the price?

Hey friends!

We are at that time of the year where the weather is getting warmer and the sun is starting to shine more (hopefully the sun is shining, we’ve had so much rain in GA lately). But back to my point this is the time of year at least for me when I want to be tan. I love a good tan, it just makes me feel better. Well today I am going to review a cult favorite so stick around to read all about it!

What is it:

“A super-lightweight, easy-to-apply, velvety mousse that dries in 60 seconds and delivers a rich-bronze tan.”

Packaging:

This bronzing mousse comes in 3 sizes with each having a pump. The pump is so easy to use and has a big enough opening that enough product comes out with one pump. As far as the actual bottle goes, I think it’s really chic and classy looking.

Product:

This mousse comes out so easy and feels great on the skin. Like they describe it, it is velvety and blends really smooth when applying it. It does have a color guard to it, which I really love because that makes it really easy to see where you’ve applied it. I apply mine with a mitt which is pictured above. I HIGHLY suggest using a mitt with this or any tanning mousse, it really helps make it smooth and natural.

Now let’s talk about the color this gives you. To me this is a very natural color, it is a brown/bronze with no orange undertones. The first time you apply it it gives you a nice light color, this is very buildable so if you want a darker tan just add another layer.

Does it smell like self tanner? At first no it actually smells like a nice perfume, but I will say after a few hours it does have the self tan odor. Once you start smelling that just hop in the shower and rinse off and it should take care of that. That smell is definitely not a deal breaker for me, but I know some people can’t stand it.

Price and Where to Buy:

1.69oz | $19

4oz  | $32

8oz  | $42

You can buy the mousse from Ulta,  Sephora, or Amazon and the mitt I bought is the Ulta brand.

How to Use:

1 // In the shower go ahead and shave your legs and exfoliate any area where you want to apply the mousse.

2 // When I get out of the shower I moisturize my body with a really light lotion like this one.

3 // After waiting a few minutes to let the lotion dry I put the mitt on my hand and pump the product onto the mitt. I  pump 2 pumps for each arm, 3 pumps for my legs, and 1 pump for my chest. (Just play around with it to see how much works for you… I’m tall and this works for me).

4 // Starting with my arms I literally just rub the product in going in a circular motion until it’s all covered.

5 // Do the rest of your body and you are done.

Final Thoughts:

I’m in LOVE with this self tanner!! I think it is totally worth the price because of how great it looks, how easy it is to apply, and how long it lasts. If I apply two coats, this will last on my legs for 7 days. I just can’t say enough good things about this, so I think you should just try it for yourself! You won’t be disappointed!!!

That was a long post, so if you are still here have you tried this before? If not what is your favorite self tanning product?

That’s so cool that this comes with a mitt to apply the mousse. What a smart idea! I used to use tanning lotion and I would always have dark stains in between my fingers from it. I’m not a fan of the smell of self-tanners, so it would be interesting to see how this one is. I like how you said the smell goes away after you shower. It would definitely be worth a try! I am really hoping to get tan this year! Fortunately with my job it’s easy to spend time outside every day playing with the kids. I just don’t always get time to be out in my bathing suit, so my stomach is always way whiter than my arms and legs lol!

It doesn’t come with a mitt you have to buy it separate, but I bought the Ulta brand one and it works perfect, and it’s like a dollar cheaper! :)
I haven’t been a huge self tanner user because to be honest I’m just too lazy to keep up with it, but this product combined with the mitt makes it so easy. Last night I applied it to my legs in like 2 minutes haha! And the mitt is definitely great to prevent the in between the fingers mess. You should really try it. But lucky you, you get to be out in the sun a lot, and I just know the FL weather is so nice right now! It has been so rainy and gross outside here lately, this girl hasn’t been able to lay out at all! :(
