Hey friend! Last weekend was my moms birthday! I came up with an itinerary for her and I to spend the day together doing girly things and making memories. Our first stop was Drybar Salon, this was my first time at this type of salon, so I made mental notes of my experience while we were there so I could tell you all about it. Keep reading to find out more about Drybar!
My Experience at a Drybar Salon
Let me just put this out there… I didn’t take any pics of this experience except when we first walked in, so this post isn’t going to be picture heavy like usual.
Before we even get into it let’s talk about what a Drybar is exactly…
Drybar is a salon where you can get your hair washed, dried, and styled for any occasion. No cuts or colors at this salon. This is the ultimate girls day experience.
My Experience from Start to Finish:
>>When we first walked in the door we were greeted with an amazing aroma of Drybar hair products (if you own any, you know the smell), the sounds of blow dryers, and friendly staff. We checked-in and were asked if we wanted anything to drink…water, tea, soda, coffee, champagne etc. Right off the bat you feel like you are special and they want you to feel comfortable.
>>We both ordered coffee {which was super good btw}
>>We were told to sit in the waiting area in the front and our stylist will be with us soon. The “lobby” is super nice and chic, everything is white, gray, and yellow which gives off a very happy vibe.
>>In the waiting area they have fresh baked cookies (I know!), hair products for purchase and a book of the hairstyles you can choose from.
>>After waiting a few minutes my stylist came and got me, he took me to the VIP room where we talked about my hair type and how I normally style my hair. We flipped through the book and I told him I wanted something a little different than how I normally do my hair. My mom joined me a few minutes later in the same room with her stylist.
>> Once we had the initial consultation we went to the shampoo room. Here is where the relaxation begins. He took me to a wash bowl, and pulled out a wooden box under the chair to put my feet on. Something so simple made such a difference. It was so comfortable.
>>He then started washing my hair which felt amazing of course, the water was the perfect temp, the pressure he was using on my head was perfect, it was just perfect! I paid $10 extra for a “Floater” which is a 10 minute head massage. I will say, I don’t feel like I got a 10 minute head massage to be honest. The whole washing and conditioning part with a little bit of massage took about 10 minutes total. So that was kind of a bummer, I really wanted that longer massage.
>>After my hair was nice and clean we went back to the VIP room to start the drying and styling process.
>>He put a couple of products in my hair to start, I had no idea what he was using in my hair because he never told me. It would have made sense for him to tell me in case I wanted to buy the product, but I had no clue.
>>He started drying my hair in little tiny sections with a round brush, he would twist the hair so much around the round brush that when he let that section down the hair had so much volume. It took him a while to do this for my whole head, but it was relaxing and actually very interesting to watch.
>>Once my hair was dry he took a curling wand and curled my hair pretty similar to what I do normally, parting it a different way tho. I leaned back and he fluffed my hair up breaking up some of the curls and giving them more life.
>>After that I was done, he ushered me to the front desk again and we said our goodbyes and thank you’s (mostly from me).
So that is my experience with Drybar.
I honestly loved everything about this experience. You really feel so pampered and special while you are there. I love the details in the salon that make it feel very high class with some sass to it. I love the book of styles to choose from, however my mom didn’t love her style in the end, and I feel like her stylist could have given the curls she did more volume and life instead of being stuck to her head. But after the whole experience we both said we would definitely go back again, and that to me equals success.
I think this is a great place to take any girl/woman in your life. They will love the experience. Definitely check out the website, it is very informative and cute, you can also purchase products online, (booking an appointment online didn’t work for me unfortunately).
Have you been to a Drybar? If not, do you plan on going?

I liked it when I went. Didn’t like the massage from them, I like how my hair stylist does it. They gave me a different style than I requested and I should have spoken up. I’d still go back though.
I felt like my massage could have and should have been longer honestly. But I did enjoy the whole experience. I’m not exactly sure my hairstyle was what I asked for either, but it was close…maybe! :)
