Hey friends!!
Hope you had a great weekend! Today I am going to be talking to you about one of my beauty life savers. DRY SHAMPOO. If you don’t use dry shampoo, you gotta try it you will be amazed. And I’m going to tell you exactly how I use it to get the best results. So stick around.
What is Dry Shampoo:
Dry Shampoo is a powdery spray that typically smells really good. The powder in the spray absorbs any excess oil in your hair leaving it feeling, looking, and smelling much more clean. Added bonus…must dry shampoos give your hair extra volume. And who doesn’t want more volume?!?
Why You Shouldn’t Wash Your Hair Everyday:
Washing your hair everyday can strip the natural oils your scalp and hair produce causing it to get really dry, then your scalp wants to overcompensate and produce way too much oil thus creating a vicious cycle. If you wash your hair everyday because it’s really oily, challenge yourself for one week by only washing your hair every other day and see what happens. The oil will start to diminish on it’s own. If you’re hair is dry you can go more than every other day, and I am super jealous of you! :)
How To: Use Dry Shampoo
Once you’ve found a really good dry shampoo you will want to use it all the time. I promise you that!
1 // I separate the top layer of my hair into 4 pieces. Two are on the side of my hair right above my ears, 1 section is my bangs all the way until the crown, and the last section is the crown of my head. You can separate this anyway you want, do whatever is easier for you to get to the root.
2 // Start with any of the sections and hold the dry shampoo at least 6 inches away. Spray the root and move on to the next section.
3 // If you have the time wait 5-10 minutes after you’ve sprayed the dry shampoo. The longer you wait the more oil the powder will absorb.
4 // With a brush or your fingers blend the dry shampoo into your hair. Make sure you really brush the areas you sprayed out or you could be left with white powder in your hair depending on the brand you use. If you massage your scalp with your fingers just like you are washing your hair it will create more volume making your hair look freshly washed.
That is really all you do and you can go on and style the rest of your hair like you want to.
My Favorite Brands of Dry Shampoo:
1 // SexyHair H2NO Dry Shampoo: This is what I’m currently using because I ran out of my fave. It smells really good, and it doesn’t leave a white powdery cast to it.
2 // Batiste Dry Shampoo: This is my absolute favorite kind, it works so well, there are tons of different scents to pick from, and it’s really affordable. They also have options for blondes, and brunettes.
3 // Suave Beautiful Clean Dry Shampoo: This smells AMAZING, and it really works. Plus this is probably the cheapest dry shampoo I’ve seen.
*One of my favorite tricks with Dry Shampoo, is to spray my hair really good before going to bed, don’t brush it out and let the dry shampoo do it’s work while you sleep through the night. If you are like me your hair gets oily through the night… I must sweat or something haha! But seriously this works so well!
Anyways that is how you use Dry Shampoo, I promise when you start using it, it becomes it will become one of your holy grail beauty products that you always have to have on hand.
Do you use Dry Shampoo?
I tried to comment, but not sure if it worked… if so, please disregard this one! I need to try Suave since it’s a fraction of the price of Batiste. Love dry shampoo! xo
Batiste is my favorite, but I need to try the Suave since it’s cheaper! Thanks for the recommendation! :) xo
Yea definitely give the Suave a try, it is way cheaper and smells great. I will say for some reason I tend to go through a can of that much quicker than any other dry shampoo!
These are really great tips! Believe it or not, I have never used dry shampoo. Back in Malaysia the weather is so humid that I must wash my hair everyday but now that we’re living in Canada, I wash my hair once every 2 days. I think it’s really time for me to start using dry shampoo and this post is so helpful to me, thank you.

Yea you should definitely give it a try, you will really like it, especially if you wash your hair every 2 days, it just makes it a little bit more fresh! Thanks so much for stopping by! :)
Batiste all the way! I need to try the Sexy Hair one, bc I love their hairspray & Big Sexy Hair line.
Yea I’ve really been enjoying the Sexy Hair one, it smells great, and I like that it doesn’t leave my hair white when you spray it in! Give it a try! :)
this is so useful! dry shampoo has become my bff!

Haha I know right?! It’s just so reliable! :)
Those are all GREAT tips! I love dry shampoo! I keep some Suave around, but I have recently loved the Dove one. It’s a little more expensive, but the can lasts a lot longer. It smells amazing, too.
Thank you so much!! Yea someone else mentioned the Dove one and I definitely want to try it next!!
I LOVE dry shampoo! I use it every day just as a way to keep my scalp from getting to greasy throughout the day! I love Suave’s Keratin one!
I use it when my hair is clean sometimes too just for that extra volume or texture!
I love dry shampoo! I use Not Your Mother’s, and it works great. My hair is naturally curly, and I can’t brush it when it’s dry or I’ll end up with an afro! Because of this I can’t usually use dry shampoo, but it’s great for when I straighten my hair! My hair is really long so it takes forever to straighten. I usually try to leave it straight for 3 or 4 days, so I use dry shampoo by day 2 or 3 to make sure it doesn’t get greasy.
Try using just your fingers instead of a brush when you wear it curly. My hair is naturally curly/wavy and I do that. Yours maybe much more curly and even that doesn’t work, but it could be worth a try. And this is kind of random, but have you ever tried a Wet 2 Dry straightener? I have actually just rediscovered mine and I LOVE it, it definitely cuts down on the time it takes to straighten! That’s awesome you can leave your hair straight for 3 or 4 days… that would not work for me! :)
I’ll try that sometime! And a Wet 2 Dry straightener sounds amazing! Part of what takes me so long is that I have to first blow my hair dry (or just let it dry naturally if I have all the time in the world, which isn’t often!) and then straighten it. I may need to get one of those!
Yea definitely try the straightener because it takes way less time to do because you are killing 2 birds with 1 stone. It’s crazy!! I got mine Walmart! :)
Loved the post!

Thanks so much!!
I love dry shampoo!! It’s a lifesaver when I hit snooze too many times to take a proper shower. I didn’t realize it worked better the longer you leave it in though. I’ll have to try your overnight tip!
I know dry shampoo is totally a life saver for me too! Yea definitely try those tips and see what you think! :)
That’s a great idea about the overnight thing! I’ll have to try that. I LOVE my dry Shampoo. So far my favorites are Suave’s Keratin Dry Shampoo and Dove’s Dry Shampoo. Dove’s smells AMAZING! I’ll have to try out Batiste next! Thanks for sharing!
Ooo I’ll have to try Dove’s, I bet it does smell really good, they have really yummy smelling products!! Thanks so much for stopping by! :)
Great Tips!
