Whiten Your Teeth With Charcoal?

April 22, 2016 By TheBeautySection 6 Comments

Whiten Your Teeth with Charcoal?!

Hey friends!

Today’s post I am testing out something I’ve seen flying around Pinterest for a while now. Stick around to see if you can actually Whiten Your Teeth with Charcoal!

Whiten Your Teeth With Charcoal?

So if you haven’t seen this going around you are probably thinking… isn’t charcoal black? Why would I want to put anything black anywhere near my teeth… but ACTIVATED Charcoal (not charcoal off the grill), clings to stains and discoloration on teeth and pulls it off. So I am going to put that to the test, and you can see the results.

Disclaimer: My teeth aren’t perfect by any means, but I wanted to show you the pictures to keep it real here! :)

What you Need:

Whiten Your Teeth with Charcoal?!

  • A toothbrush (preferably a cheap one, in case the charcoal stains the brush)
  • Activated Charcoal, found here.
  • A bowl

What to do:

  1. Pull apart the Activated Charcoal capsule from the middle, this is actually harder than I thought, just be careful you don’t want black powder going everywhere.
  2. Wet your toothbrush.
  3. Stir the powder with the wet toothbrush to create a paste.
  4. Brush the paste onto your teeth.
  5. Leave it on your teeth for 5 minutes.
  6. Rinse, and brush your teeth with your regular toothpaste.

Okay so I know in the pictures it is kind of hard to tell the difference, because my teeth are normally fairly white since I maintain with whitening toothpastes. And you might be thinking that the red lipstick is making my teeth look whiter in the first picture, and it very well could be. But that was not my intentions at all, I just had the red lipstick on from church and kept it on. I would recommend you to not do this with lipstick on because it just gets really messy.

I actually also did this experiment on my dad who has coffee stains and other stains on his teeth from over the years. He didn’t want pictures of his teeth out on the internet but boy let me tell you, it worked so great on his teeth. I took pictures for him to see the difference and he was amazed. He can’t wait to do it again, and he even told all his golfing buddies about it! :)

I highly recommend any and everyone to try this if you want white teeth. It works. Plus it is completely and 100% painless, Zero sensitivity, doesn’t taste or smell like anything at all (thank goodness), and it’s all natural so nothing bad is going into your body. I will say just be careful about swallowing it though, because Activated Charcoal is meant to detox the stomach, so if you ingest this you might not have a good night. Recommended use: 1-2 times a month.

Would you try this to whiten your teeth? Let me know below!

This is cool. I never thought about activated charcoal but it sounds true just because of the strength and properties of the activated charcoal. You’re right, it’s hard to see the difference but activated charcoal really does wonder.

I typically like to keep Activated Charcoal on hand not only in case we get the stomach bug, but also to include in my face masks on occasion. But I’ve never considered using it on my teeth. True, I’ve seen the pins….but you see crazy pins all the time, lol! Thanks for testing this out for us!!

I’ve never actually used Activated Charcoal for it’s intended purpose haha! Oh well, it works great for DIY beauty things! :)
You are welcome, I can’t wait to try it again!
