What’s In My Travel Makeup Bag

travel makeup bag

Hey friends!

Right now I am sitting on the beach enjoying some much needed R&R but I thought it would be interesting for you to see what makeup I bring with me for a week long trip to the beach! To some it may seem like a lot, and to others it may not be enough, but come take a peak into my Travel Makeup Bag!

What’s In My Travel Makeup Bag

There is a lot of stuff here, so I’m just going to list them from left to right top to bottom by category. Grab a snack or something, this might take a minute!

Face Makeup:

1 // Murad Oil Control Mattifier with SPF 15: I use this on my face every single day before applying makeup and at this point I don’t feel like I can be with it, it’s that good!

2 // No7 Beautifully Matte Makeup Base: This comes after the Murad SPF above and it is really great at mattifying my skin, which I will need even more of when I’m at beach. I have a post on both of those items here.

3 // Maybelline Super Stay Makeup: This is a new foundation and I’ve used it for about a week, so far I’m loving it… a full review of this will be up in the next couple of weeks, so stay tuned!

4 // Maybelline Instant Age Rewind Dark Circle Eraser in Brightener: This is one of my favorite concealers ever, so it obviously has to travel with me! :)

5 // MAC Pro Longwear Concealer in NW20: I thought I should bring this for when my face gets more tan and my foundation doesn’t match, I can just conceal the areas that I need with this concealer and powder on top.

6 // Smooth Operator Tarte Amazonian Clay FinishingΒ Powder: This is a small travel size powder so it doesn’t take up much room, but this is also great at setting your makeup in place. I love the airbrushed finish this gives to the skin.

7 // NYX Matte Finish Spray: I’ve only been using this for about a week as well and this works really well, especially if your makeup has gotten oily during the day and you just spritz this all over your face, it really refreshes your makeup.

8 // Mary Louminizer by theBalm: This is basically the only highlighter I own and it is beautiful. I have to be careful with since I have really oily skin. But if applied right it is stunning. Plus who doesn’t want a nice glow while at the beach?!?

9 // NYX Blush in Cinnamon: I couldn’t go to the beach without packing this blush (that may be an exaggeration, I can go to the beach with just a bathing suit and I’m good). But I absolutely love this blush, it’s perfect for Summer and gorgeous! Here is a post all about this comparing it to a high-end blush.

10 // Urban Decay AfterGlow Blush in Bittersweet: This blush is stunning, I know it looks scary but I promise it’s not. More about this blush here.

11 // Becca Beach Tint Souffle in Papaya/Topaz: I just posted more about this one too here, but this is amazing. I haven’t used it in it’s true form yet. It’s waterproof so it can stand up to pool and ocean water. I’m not the girl that wears a full face of makeup to the pool/beach ( I don’t wear any), but this could come in handy if I was planning on going to the pool, then going to lunch or shopping later.

Eyes:

12 // Samples of Urban Decay Primer Potion: Going on a trip is the perfect time to use some of your samples.

13 // Z-Palette full of goodies: I highly suggest getting a Z-palette for travel and for home. You can pop any of your products with a magnetic bottom into it and get on the road. They are amazing! Inside includes: Makeup Geek Peach Smoothie, MUG Cocoa Bear, MUG Bitten, MUG Cosmopolitan, MUG Flame Thrower, MUG Grandstand, MUG Mesmerized, MUG Wisteria, MUG Poolside, Prestige Hypnotized, Mary Kay Shadows in the upper right corner (post coming later this month), Anastasia Beverly Hills Contour Powder in Havana, and Paula Dorf Blush. Full review on the MUG Shadows here.Β

14 // Sonia Kashuk Matte Eye Shadow Palette: This palette is perfect to bring along because of the basic matte shadows it has. Some of the shadows are perfect for transitioning from one color to the next, blending out colors, brow bone highlight, and a black to deepen the crease. I love this palette so much, and it is very travel friendly.

15 // LO’real Smolder Eye Liner in Black: This is my go-to liner, it pretty much speaks for itself.

16 // They’re Real Mascara by Benefit: A great stay in place mascara, plus it gives crazy volume and length, plus it’s travel size! :)

17 // They’re Real Push-Up Liner by Benefit: I love this eyeliner because it will stay put through humid weather… and where I’m going it’s supposed to be so so hot. It’s super black and easy to apply as well.

18 // LO’real Brow Stylist: Perfect for travel, this brow product gives you natural looking brows while keeping them in place and looking on point.

Brushes:

19 // Real Techniques Powder Brush: I use this brush to apply powder and bronzer, works perfect.

20 // Urban Decay Blurring Optical Foundation Brush: I go back and forth between foundation brushes all the time, but this brush has always been a stand out. Gives you that flawless finish we are all after.

21 // Real Techniques Blush Brush: I don’t have a ton to say about this brush besides the fact that it works great, it applies blush very smoothly with ease.

22 // Sigma Eye Brushes:Β Post on these here.

23 // Beauty Blender: BB are just an amazing tool that everyone should have.

Miscellaneous:

24 // Pencil Sharpener: I always try to sharpen all my eye liners, and lip liners before I leave, but one may break while you are gone so I always try to bring one.

25 // Mirror: A lot of times hotels don’t have a great space for applying your makeup so I always bring a hand held mirror that I can use to apply my makeup. (not pictured)

Hey look at you, you made it to the bottom of this very long post. I know this was long, but I wanted to tell you about everything I take off with me. It may seem like a ton of stuff, and to be quiet honest typing it out really does make it seem like a lot. But just because I take it, doesn’t mean I will use everything, I just like to be prepared. Oh yea and all my lipsticks were packed later according to the clothes I packed… but believe me, I packed more than just one! :)

Holla if you pack way too much for a trip!

What makeup can you NOT go without when you travel?

I’m glad I’m not the only one that has a hard time limiting my travel products! I have one of those NYX blushes in pink and I’ve been rather pleased with the results!

Haha I know, I just can’t leave some of the things behind! I will say though, now that I’m back from my trip I didn’t use everything I took. But hey at least I was prepared! :) Yea I really like NYX blushes, they are affordable and very pretty!

A mirror is something I never think to take, but I always have the hardest time finding the hotel ones :P

Yea I’ve forgotten mine before and it makes it a lot harder, especially because hotels or condos don’t have the best lighting sometimes and it makes it even harder!

Oooh, you lucky duck! Have so much fun on your trip. I actually keep my daily makeup in a travel bag all the time. I usually do my eye makeup and put on some BB cream before I go nanny, but then I wait until after the gym to actually do my full makeup. Usually I’m at Andrew’s house after the gym so I bring it with. It makes it super easy for when I travel! I just add a few extras to the bag like some lipsticks or another eyeshadow.

Thank you girl!! We are having tons of fun, but it is so hot!!! I used to keep my makeup in a bag too and it was a lot easier to pack up and go, but now I have way too much to dig through a bag that I have to keep it in a vanity. I guess since I’m a beauty blogger that is pretty self explanatory haha! :)
